Note: Kick-off Meetings are on Wed or Thurs nights, but thereafter, all weeknight group runs are on Tues nights.

OVERVIEW 

Our 10-week 10 Weeks to 10K Beginner Running Programs will prepare you to run from four to six miles. If you've ever dreamed of running a Half-Marathon or perhaps the NYC Marathon, this is the program that will start you on the path to becoming a runner.

• If you are just starting to run and want to learn how to do it properly or…
• If you've been running on the treadmill and want to take it to the road or…
• If you are currently able to run 1 or 2 miles and want to run further or…
• If you want to run again after an extended lay-off
 

FEATURES & BENEFITS
The Beginner's Running Program is created and coached by The Running Center's Owner and Head Coach, Coach Mindy, and includes the following.

• Group Runs. The professionally coached, group runs take place mostly in Central Park. We also plan interesting new courses outside of the park. The dates of the runs are indicated on the training schedule and meet as follows:

≈Every Tuesday evening at 7:00pm.
-And-
≈Every other Saturday morning
  Saturday runs in January through April and Nov & Dec meet at 9:00am
  Saturday runs in May, June, September & October meet at 8:00am
  Saturday runs in July & August meet at 7:30am
   
• Distances & Types of Runs. The distance of each run will vary and include aerobic runs, fun runs, form work, hill runs and some speedwork.

• Pace Groups. Time trials are run and pace groups are determined.

• Training Schedule. A comprehensive, customized daily training schedule is designed and distributed at the kick-off meeting.

• Training Advice. Weekly emails are sent with training advice on many topics including nutrition, conditioning exercises, running shoes, injury prevention and more.

• Goal Race. A specific goal race or distance is pre-determined for the team with coaching support at local races.

• Individual Goals & Results. Individual goal-setting for training runs and races are given to each participant from Coach Mindy with results sheet sent after the run or race. It's like having a private coach within the group setting!

• Clinics. Clinics on a variety of topics such as running form, heart rate monitor training and shoe selection are led by Coach Mindy.

• Tele-clinics. Tele-clinics led by Coach Mindy and guest speakers are held on Wednesdays at 5:00pm, approximately once per month.

• Open-Door Policy. Ongoing email, phone and coach-to-runner support with answers to all your questions by Coach Mindy.

• Energy. PowerBar® energy food is distributed throughout the training program.

• Team Gear. Team running gear is included.

• Team Camaraderie. One of the best reasons to join!

Please Note:
(1) You must be pre-registered to attend the kick-off meeting.
(2) Registration, race entry and fees for races are not included in program fee.
(3) Dates & times of group runs and events are subject to change.
(4) Goal races are subject to change. You may also select a race that is not listed. Please discuss with Coach Mindy.
