 THE THREE COMPONENTS OF RUNNING WELL

• Genetics. If you “picked the right parents” who have given you the right genes to become a great runner, you should thank them for giving you the right start.

• Training. Proper training can be attained by listening to your coach and following a methodical training schedule like those that are including in your training programs.

• Nutrition. So what about nutrition? Whether you are running a 5K, 10K, half-marathon or marathon, you must treat your body as if it were a high-performance sports car. For it to perform well, it should be filled with super-octane fuel. Being on a diet while training for a road race, will not fuel your engine properly. In fact the word diet in and of itself is a negative word that conjures up images of deprivation and denial which is both unnecessary and counter-productive to your running success.
